In a move to enhance the shopping experience when it comes to purchasing a kitchen, IKEA is now testing two new virtual reality experiences.
In the IKEA VR Pancake Kitchen, users can explore different design solutions through the experience of making pancakes in a virtual space. The VR Kitchen Visualizer allows customers to experience a basic version of their own finalized kitchen design in a virtual reality setting.
“We know that this technology is developing fast and will play a major role in the future for our customers,” said Rob Kelly, Head of Sales, IKEA Canada. “Through this test, we want to learn if virtual reality experiences will help our customers to visualize their dreams and make informed choices when buying a kitchen.”
The company says they are still on an exploration journey regarding virtual reality and will continue to invest in new possibilities when it comes to this technology.
The VR Pancake Kitchen and VR Kitchen Visualizer experiences will be available until May 21, 2017 at the Etobicoke store in Toronto, Ontario. The tests will also be offered at IKEA Hasselt in Belgium, IKEA Västerås in Sweden and the IKEA service pick-up point in Enebyängen, Sweden.
