Pierre Deniker Foundation is launching a campaign to educate about schizophrenia - hit and miss! RelaxNews  /  Fondation Pierre Deniker /

Supposedly aiming at triggering empathy and educating us about schizophrenia, the Pierre Deniker Foundation for mental health prevention will launch a campaign in France on May 2 along with a short film titled "Another Reality".

The one-minute long ad, created by Marcel advertising agency, will air on major French TV channels including TF1, Canal + and France Télévisions from May 2 to May 15 and on social media until the end of the month.

The images show a 20-year-old schizophrenic wearing a virtual reality headset. This tech accessory was weirdly chosen by the Paris-based agency to symbolize the confinement sensation experienced by 600,000 people suffering from schizophrenia in France.

The ad ends with these words: "Being a victim of schizophrenia is like being prisoner of another reality" - this message is illustrated by images of the young man trying to get rid of his VR headset.

No doubt our friends working in all areas of the virtual reality industry will appreciate the message!

Not only this campaign sends the wrong message about the VR technology - which we know can significantly contribute in bringing concrete solutions to help treat mental disorders, but it also totally fails to shed any new light on the schizophrenics' suffering.
