Its most popular title is VR Thrills: Roller Coaster 360.

In the early the site used to cover a lot more Google Cardboard related stories and videogames, which obviously waned in recent years to the rise of better headsets, offering more immersive experiences. However, that doesn’t mean to say the Cardboard community doesn’t still exist, in fact, for some developers it’s thriving. European virtual reality (VR) studio Rabbit Mountain is one such developer, which is now eyeing up expansion plans.

Known for titles such as Haunted Rooms: Escape VR Game, Jurassic VR 2, and most recently VR Thrills: Roller Coaster 360Rabbit Mountain currently sees over 1 million monthly users the company claims. A good portion of these users come from VR Thrills: Roller Coaster 360, an app that started of being a straightforward 360 video app featuring roller coasters. The studio then expanded the experience into a user-generated roller coaster videogame, allowing players to build their own ride, with various scenery options – from destructible walls to dinosaurs – as well as different environments.

To help foster the growing community Rabbit Mountain is building on Google Cardboard the studio will be expanding VR Thrills: Roller Coaster 360’s options. “Our focus is to offer more and more prop and scenery choices while users go and build awesome rides,” said Richard Hazenberg, founder & CEO Hazenberg Investments in an email. “The most popular roller coaster builders are rewarded with extra tokens and fresh content.”

The title will also branch in two directions for maximum visibility. The first will be to support desktop PC’s, enabling users to easily build roller coasters outside of VR if they wish. The second is to bring VR Thrills: Roller Coaster 360 to more VR platforms.

“We think we have something interesting to offer the VR platforms and their users in particular as we have a large and quickly growing content database of (user-generated) content and furthermore already reach 1 million monthly VR enthusiasts that could very well be interested to continue their VR journey on one of these platforms. We are currently in the early stage of prioritizing which VR platforms would make most sense,” Hazenberg adds.
