It's looking more and more likely that the PlayStation VR or PS VR will be the hottest Christmas present of 2016. And when we say hottest, we mean the hardest to actually get your hands on.
Amazon has updated its pre-order page for the PS VR stating that orders may not be fulfilled until as late as mid-December. "Due to limited stock we are only able to offer one unit per customer per address," a message on the PS VR page on Amazon UK reads. "You will be notified via email of the expected delivery date closer to the time. "We will be fulfilling customer orders in the order in which they were placed and expect to fulfil all customer pre-orders by December 12, 2016."
Amazon has always stated that the PS VR pre-orders will be sent out on a first-come, first-serve basis, but it seems that the launch stock isn't going to cover the amount of demand the retailer has seen for the PS4 virtual reality headset. According to their respective websites, GAME.co.uk and GameStop are promising products at launch for anyone who pre-orders.
"Pre-order now to guarantee your PlayStation VR product for launch," states GAME's website. "All customers who have already pre-ordered will receive on launch day."
We have reached out to Sony, GAME and GameStop for comment on stock issues.
PlayStation VR launches on October 13 for £349.99. It requires the PlayStation Camera to function though, which is sold separately for £39 – available here from Amazon.
