Virtual Forum Aims To Redefine Communication
March 2, 2018

Bringing one of the oldest forms of internet group communication into virtual reality.

Since the earliest days of the Internet, message boards and forums have formed a key part of the social experience of being online. Forums provide opportunities for discussions, or to obtain or provide advice on every subject imaginable. TuroVR are attempting to bring this experience into virtual reality (VR) with Virtual Forum.

Virtual Forum has been created to offer an expansive environment where users can relax and thing or work in solitude in a beautiful environment, or open up a discussion with a community to share ideas or get tips and advice on a wide variety of topics.

At launch, Virtual Forum will have two modes; The First simple called ‘I Want To Be Alone’ allows creative people such as writers or artists to develop ideas within a pre-defined environment such as a forest, beach, city or even in space. The second mode, Community Forums, allows users to enter a shared virtual space where they can join a discussion on a topic of interest.

The main discussion topics available at launch will be:

- Creativity

- Gaming

- Entertainment

- Education

- Real Estate

- Social

- Business

- Software

- Sales

- Marketing

- Parenting

Users will be able to create sub-topics within the main topic in order to create a forum structure. Virtual Forum allows for a virtual desktop set-up, so users can see the desktop screen, browse the internet or watch videos whilst simultaneously engaging with the forums.

Users can also share their desktop to other users to show images or videos as a demonstration while discussing a topic. Up to eight users can share a community room, each using one of the personalised avatars that can use realistic facial expression and body language. User can also exchange private messages for more personal discussions with friends or family.

Virtual Forum will be heading to Steam, Oculus Store and Viveport on 18th March, 2018, priced at £9.99 (GBP).
