Ryan Aerospace has developed a helicopter simulator control hardware that the company said addresses a common problem in training helicopter pilots.
The Helimod Mark III uses virtual reality to immerse pilots in a simulated cockpit with the ability to look around the cabin in 360-deg views. This capability adds a perspective of vertical reference, a feature not typically presented in traditional simulators.
The company said the simulator is also useful for ab-initio hover training, effects of controls, secondary effects of controls and autorotation entries.
Ryan Aerospace, along with Precision Flight Controls, demonstrated the Helimod Mark II at Heli-Expo in Las Vegas last month.
