When Classical Music Meets Virtual Reality
August 30, 2019

Classical violin meets virtual reality in a project by Irina Muresanu, associate professor in the School of Music, and Amitabh Varshney, professor of computer science and dean of the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences.

The two UMD faculty teamed up to transform the way people can experience musical performances. Using new immersive technologies—both visual and audio—viewers are virtually transported to scenic locations around the world representing diverse solo violin pieces.

Initial funding for this project is from the University of Maryland Strategic Partnership: MPowering the State.
