Syndrome Coming To PSVR This Week
June 30, 2017

Between Arizona Sunshine and Ancient Amuletor launching it’s a big week for PlayStation VR (PSVR), but there is another more obscure title set to release too. First-person horror experience Syndrome is also set to arrive this Friday, June 30th, at least in the UK. No one’s really talking about it, but we do know what the VR support consists of.

Eagle-eyed PSVR fans spotted Syndrome on Amazon UK a few months back. It’s had its release date pushed back a couple of times, but the ‘PlayStation VR Compatible’ labelling remained, without much explanation as to what it pertains. It’s taken me a few weeks of persisting, but I finally managed to get in contact with publisher Bigmoon Entertainment earlier this month to find out what headset owners could expect.

The main campaign in Syndrome puts players on a ship overrun with monstrous enemies. You need to fight for survival and figure out what has happened to your crew. Sadly, this campaign won’t be compatible with PSVR. Instead, players will get a survival mode in which they’re locked in a specific part of the ship and must fend off enemies as they locate key cards, weapons and health. It looks like the game is still played with the DualShock 4 controller.

Hopefully that will be enough to keep VR owners entertained, though this doesn’t sound like something the you should buy for the VR support alone.

We don’t know yet if Syndrome will be releasing in other territories this week. The game’s already out on Steam, though it doesn’t appear that any Oculus Rift or HTC Vive support is intact.

Will you be picking up Syndrome this week?
