If you are a fan of flying sims then hold onto your ejector seat, it is about to get crazy in here!
VR Support for the WWII flight simulation IL-2 Sturmovik is coming for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive in March of this year. According to the developers, 1C Game Studios, the game is now working in VR, they are just adding some performance tweaks.
The developers detailed their new update in a blog post here.
We achieved good progress in implementing VR devices support via Open VR API - HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Both devices work in our sim already - visuals work, their parameters are being adjusted, and possible performance optimizations are being researched. We used a certain approach to interacting with the existing user interface in VR environment conveniently. We'll start beta testing of the VR subsystem in the nearest future, and it's planned to make Open VR support available to the public in March.
IL-2 Sturmovik joins War Thunder who added VR support way back in 2014 during the DK2 days.
You can pick up the game for $49.99 and start bombing in VR soon!
