There are plenty of VR rhythm games to choose from in 2019. In fact, there are probably too many, but Kinemotik Studios’ Audio Trip is among the most exciting we’ve seen thus far. Featuring choreographed dance numbers and music from top artists like Lady Gaga, it’s the perfect way for anyone to dance in VR.

You can dance if you want to

Audio Trip is a dancing game built for all ages and skill levels. As you dance through each song, you hit drums, dodge obstacles, and catch gems that appear in your headset. Rather than have you dance to generic dance beats, the game has a roster of huge artists. They include Skrillex, Zedd, and deadmau5, all perfect for getting your heart pumping. Completing the “video-gamey” objectives within the song will actually make you dance without even doing so intentionally. As you improve at the game, you’ll also improve your dance moves.

For those with no VR experience, you can choose a “comfort mode” to keep yourself from feeling sick. Younger players can also turn on  “no-fail mode,” so they can keep having fun if they can’t dance perfectly. There is a tutorial included to learn the mechanics, as well, and three difficulty levels for each song. If you want to beat your friends on the leaderboard, you’ll need to perfect your moves.

“[Developer Brady Wright] and I wanted to give people the freedom to dance their own dance  — to physically explore the space and to express themselves through guided moves so that they don’t overthink it; they just end up dancing! Said Kinemotik founder Ashley Cooper. “And VR offered the perfect platform.”

Audio Trip will be launching in early access this fall on the  Rift, Vive, and Windows Mixed Reality for 19.99. The game is already available in VR arcades.
