FIGHTING off hordes of the undead or infiltrating a secret military space station will soon become possible as a Newstead building becomes ground zero for virtual reality.

Free-roaming virtual reality enterprise Zero Latency successfully applied to the council last month to turn 34 Chester St into its first Brisbane operation.

The business pitches “pure immersive mayhem with the freedom to get up and go” where “your body is the controller and your mind believes it’s real”.

The Melbourne-based business operates in eight locations, including Tokyo and Madrid, with five additional sites under development.

The development application said virtual reality could also be applied to the training and education sector.

“Zero Latency is a pioneer and global leader in free-roam, multi-player, virtual reality entertainment and training/education, in which untethered players freely explore a large physical space while immersed in virtual reality experiences,” says the company’s website.

An electrical wholesaler currently operates out of the building.
