Paris: The new season of The Voice takes viewers on an immersive adventure.
French TV channel TF1 called upon XXII Group, an expert in innovative technology, to roll out a virtual reality app for its shows to takes users on a fully immersive adventure. Timed to coincide with the launch of the sixth season of The Voice with Shine and Euromedia, XXII Group designed an app for iOS, Android and Gear VR that uses its optimized VR Quartz player to let viewers play along.
Starting February 18, viewers will be able to use the MyTF1 app to get a 360° view of the auditorium and watch from the perspective of a coach on the show. Using a virtual reality headset or simply a smartphone, users can watch blind auditions from the famous red chairs and choose their favorite singers, just like a real coach. For an even more realistic experience, the app plays audience reactions recorded from real shows.
XXII drew upon a combination of 4K videos, a precalculated 3D environment, and real-time 3D to create a richly interactive and immersive experience for users. The app will be available throughout the blind audition stage, and the content will remain downloadable all season long, so fans can relive the auditions in exciting virtual reality again and again.
