Watch VR Horror Film Campfire Creepers Now

If you’ve ever wondered how it feels like to watch a horror film in virtual reality, then you’re in luck. Dark Corner Studios has released two episodes of the VR mini-series “Campfire Creepers” through their app for free. So grab your phone and your headset because you don’t want to miss this.

Directed by the veteran director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D), Campfire Creepers has that old VHS look of the scary films and TV shows we loved in the 90s. It even stars a familiar face in the genre, Robert Englund, best known for his role as Freddy Krueger.

The project began in 2017 with Future Lighthouse and supported by Dark Corner and the VR company Oculus. Aja had never delved into virtual reality before Campfire Creepers, but it appears that he had found the perfect tool to shoot his scary stories.  In an interview with Variety, the director said: “As a director, I’m always looking for immersion. That was true even for his traditional movies, but VR had the potential of bringing immersion to a whole new level.

If you’re curious to know how they shot the series, you can watch Dark Corner’s short youtube video below:

The mini-series premiered in Tribeca Film Festival last week. There’s no news regarding how many more episodes will be made, but I certainly want to see more. I may not necessarily be a horror fan, but I’m curious to see where this show will lead us. I really like how it uses new technology to bring us something familiar, and even nostalgic. So if you’re a fan of VR and a sucker for anything that reminds you of the 90s, you don’t want to miss this.
