It was only a matter of time. Since virtual reality has come (and mostly gone) on roller coasters over the last few years, it made sense for the technology to wind up on other attractions. Recently a virtual reality bumper cars attraction opened in Germany and could spur a trend amongst other family entertainment centers.
Steampunk VR Scooter will be based at Erlebnispark Schloss Thurn in Heroldsbach near Nuremberg. This project is a culmination of companies VR Coaster and Holo Deck VR. Riders will bump and glide in virtual steampunk vehicles where they will work to defeat robots.
n addition, guests can pick up certain items in the virtual wild-west arena to help them along their journey. While virtual reality on a roller coaster sounds limited based on interactivity, this actually seems like it has more repeat rideability. Let’s hope this catches on and spreads to other family entertainment centers and theme parks!
