Virtual Real Madrid Star Donates £153K For Real

EA released a cut-scene showing Hunter being interviewed about his decision to join the cause


- The charity created by Juan Mata sees footballers donate 1% of their wages 

- Alex Hunter is played by Adetomiwa Edun in FIFA 19's story mode called Journey

- Over 60 footballers have joined including Giorgio Chiellini and Mats Hummels


FIFA 19 star Alex Hunter is making the step from virtual to reality by signing up to the Common Goal initiative instigated by Manchester United's Juan Mata.


Fictional football character Hunter joins as part of a partnership with EA Sports who are donating £153,000 to streetfootballword, the parent organisation behind the charity, which uses football to help causes across the globe from HIV to gender inequality.


Mata kickstarted Common Goal with Jurgen Griesbeck from streetfootballworld in August last year and they now boast more than 60 professional players and managers who have each pledged one percent of their salary.

Mata, who created the charity which sees players  donate 1% of their wages, welcomed Hunter


The innovative link-up with EA Sports will see Common Goal become part of FIFA 19 'The Journey' where gamers pick up the career of Hunter as he joins Real Madrid and are given the chance to make the Common Goal pledge as part of the storyline.


Common Goal co-founder Jurgen Griesbeck said: 'This new relationship represents an exciting opportunity for all of us. EA has an incredible reach, with fans of all ages across the world.

Players such as Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, Mats Hummels at Bayern Munich, Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel and Fulham's Alfie Mawson are already among those to have pledged as has Hoffenheim coach Julian Nagelsmann.
