Mediapro Middle East and the UAE-Pro League have signed an agreement to produce a live, virtual reality (VR) feed of the Arabian Gulf League.
Kicking off immediately and for the rest of the 2017/2018 season, the deal will see Mediapro produce at least ten games of the United Arab Emirates football league in augmented reality (AR) and VR.
The Spanish broadcaster will work together with Visyon to use its VRoadcaster platform for Android and iOS mobile devices and web browsers. The VR content will be available live via streaming and video-on-demand (VOD).
Through the immersive service, fans will be able to choose between different cameras, have access to live statistics, replay VR and 360° highlights, and watch the match as if they were there.
Mediapro is working on similar projects for other sporting competitions, such as Spain’s LaLiga, but the Arabian Gulf League VR feed will be the first to be commercially available.
“This innovative agreement joins other projects developed by Grupo Mediapro’s growing digital business area and represents an important step forward into the production of VR content,” said the Barcelona-based company.
