The call for entries, for the 2018 edition of the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF), concerns only the International Immersive Works Competition and the New Screen Talents (Geneva Digital Market).
There is no call for submission for feature films, short films, TV series nor for music videos, which are identified and preselected directly by the Festival programmers. The short films programme is henceforth delegated to Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur and will be screened at GIFF in a non competitive section.
IMMERSIVE WORKS - INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
The Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) is opening its call for submission for its International Immersive Works Competition (VR, AR, MR).
Since 2014, the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) has presented a programme of international VR works. Since 2016, this programme includes a competitive section with ten immersive works (virtual reality, augmented reality or mixed reality) that are selected, then presented to a specialized Jury of directors, digital creators and producers from all over the world. The VR Jury awards a Reflet d’Or to the best immersive work, worth CHF 10’000 donated by the City of Geneva.
Submission for immersive works (International Competition) is now open until 20 August 2018.
We are looking for immersive works (VR, AR, MR) from any country.
Criteria to apply:
- works must have already been shown or will be shown/broadcast in 2017-2018.
- works need a Swiss premiere status in festivals to be part of the international competition. Works entered cannot have been shown in events/festivals in Switzerland before 11 November 2018.
All genre are welcome - documentary, fiction, cinema, animation and installation - as long as the work has its own narrative dimension and a interactive and/or immersive aspect. Coherence and pertinence between the content, the storytelling and the experience are the deciding factors in the selection process.
To submit your work, please create an account on our MyGIFF online platform. Choose "Registration Form", then "Register an immersive work".
Closing date for registration: 20 August 2018.
Alteration, Jérôme Blanquet
