Back in 2012, the National Film Board of Canada's Bear 71interactive documentary made waves in the film world. The film, which followed the life of a female grizzly bear in Canada's Banff National Park and was "narrated" by the bear, garnered awards including a Gold Lion at Cannes.

The production company behind the film, Toronto-based Jam3, has now reimagined the project for 2017 by making it available in virtual reality. The project initially launched at Sundance for users with Samsung Gear equipment and Chrome browsers, and is now widely available for mobile and desktop users.

Anyone with a Google Daydream-ready phone, Google Cardboard-ready phone can view the film or it can be viewed via mobile or desktop as a standalone 360-degree experience, at bear71vr.nfb.ca.

The project was developed in collaboration with the National Film Board of Canada, Google, IDFA DocLab and Sound and Vision.
