Four years after his meth-fuelled adventures drew to a close, it looks like Walter White could be making a high-tech return.
Invited as a special guest to Las Vegas's Data Matters conference, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan broke the news that an interactive virtual reality experience inspired by the hit series is currently in the works.
The showrunner specified that the experience will not be a game but some kind of extension of theBreaking Bad universe set to last around 30 to 45 minutes. Mysterious...
It's also important to point out that the project is at such an early stage that neither a launch date nor a platform has been revealed at this point.
Even Vince Gilligan himself admitted that it was probably too soon to be throwing around teasers. But as he declared at the conference: "What the hell!" After all, Heisenberg isn't exactly known for following the rules.
Of course, this isn't the only spin-off project of on the go. A Columbian show calledMetástasis also tells the tale of a chemistry teacher who decides to deal meth after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. The main character's name: Walter Blanco, obviously.
Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould also co-created AMC prequel Better Call Saul which concentrates on Saul Goodman's chaotic life before he crosses paths with Heisenberg. Better Call Saul was picked up for a third season in April. You can catch all seven episodes of the season right now onNetflix.
