Chase has opened a one-stop home-buying center featuring virtual-reality property tours at a branch in Scottsdale — the company's first such facility in the nation.
The specialized office includes a virtual-reality terminal to investigate homes for sale as well as other computerized research services. There's also a concierge staff entrusted with answering home-buying questions and offering guidance, including help for mortgage applicants.
It combines high-tech wizardry with in-person assistance.
"People who have played a lot of video games will jump right in," said Scott Lewis, a senior home lending manager at the office. "For others, we have the concierge to help."
The Home Center at 6155 N. Scottsdale Rd. also features conference rooms and a classroom area where homebuyers and professionals can brush up on real estate topics, from learning about investment properties to staging a home for sale.
The office is open to the public, including consumers and professionals who don't have accounts or other business connections with Chase. There's no obligation to take out a mortgage or other service with Chase, Lewis said.

The facility could prove especially helpful for newcomers to the area and people who don't have a lot of time to travel around the Valley to check out properties.
"We wanted to create an environment allowing for one-stop shopping for a home," said Tyson Coon, lending manager at the branch. "This will relieve a lot of time and stress associated with home buying."
The office also is available to real estate professionals who want to meet with clients. It has lounge and meeting areas, free Wi-Fi access a playroom for kids.
A "digital advice bar" features computerized research tools capable of providing crime reports, school rankings and other localized information for various neighborhoods, as well as home-affordability calculators and more.
