October 23, 2018

The festival will run from 7th to 15th June 2019

Having held a successful debut event earlier this year in Hamburg, Germany, VRHAM!, a festival dedicated to virtual reality (VR) and the arts has announced it’ll be returning to the city for 2019.

Designed to be accessible for visitors of all ages thanks to its multi-faceted programme, VRHAM! aims to recreate the success of this years event, covering the whole gamut of VR art: with national and international artists of all genres presenting immersive experiences and participative formats from the fields of theatre, music, and dance.

To achieve this VRHAM! will be announcing its open call for artists to present their ideas in January 2019. In addition to the main festival exhibition there will again be a wide-ranging discourse programme which will be developed and carried out jointly with various partner institutions in Hamburg. For 2018 this included topics such as literature, storytelling, art, education & teaching plus a whole lot more.

Returning for 2019 will be the VRHAMMY! Awards, with an international jury awarding participating artists. One key focus will again be the promotion of up-and-coming Hamburg-based creatives.

VRHAM! will take place from 7th to 15th June 2019, returning to Hamburg’s Oberhafenquartier. The award ceremony will be held on the opening day.
