The most famous YouTuber in the world is involved in the marketing of the crypto-enabled treasure hunt game.

PewDiePie unveiled the augmented reality, multiplayer treasure hunt game Wallem in a video to his 107 million subscribers.

In his video, PewDiePie announced the collaboration with Wallem, which is now available for both iOS and Android devices. The game uses a 3D environmental map and augmented reality technology, which places virtual objects in the real world that can be viewed looking through the phone’s camera.

In the future, the game will also include a mechanism that allows players to steal tokens from each other. The value of the open wallet that keeps the untransferred tokens that the player captured will be visible to other players who will be able to steal them. The inventor of the game Andrea Bempensante explained in an interview:

“In this case, the game is in AR+ and you have to keep the icon of the opposing player inside your viewfinder for as long as you need. Those who are undergoing the snatch are warned by a notification and must protect their Open Wallets with special items. Or physically escape the snatch by moving away and then turning off the application.”

This is not the first time that PewDiePie has been involved with a blockchain project. As Modern Consensus reported in early April 2019, the controversial YouTuber partnered with decentralized video streaming platform DLive.

Wallem works as a crypto wallet and allows its users to discover and collect cryptocurrencies scattered around the real world. After their collection, the crypto assets can be transferred to external wallets and sold on exchanges. The cryptocurrencies that can be found in-game include bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH) and potentially new tokens distributed via offering or airdrop.

Furthermore, the game also features special events with other kinds of prices. The first two events are with major Italian firms including Armani and Motta, to win a watch or 50€ ($58) in PlayStation games.
