The past 20 years have been kind to Nelly, then and now (Picture: YouTube/Nelly/MelodyVR)
Nelly is set to perform a special VR gig to celebrate 20 years of Country Grammar as the iconic album marks two decades since its release.
It’s hard to believe the chart-topping debut album is already 20 years old and that is making us feel all kinds of old.
Country Grammar was released in July 2000 and featured the absolute classics Country Grammar (Hot S**t) and Ride Wit Me, cementing Nelly as a hip hop icon.
To celebrate the milestone, Nelly will perform the whole album on Melody VR with a free, interactive 360° show for the fans on 25 July.
Nelly said: ‘Anytime you get a chance to celebrate 20 years, you want to do something that you have never done before — so we are going to rock the Country Grammar album top to bottom.
‘Performing in the MelodyVR studio is epic and we have put together this show that people will hopefully want to replay 20 years from now.’
It will also be the first time his diamond certified debut album will ever be performed from start to finish and will be broadcast around the world as part of MelodyVR’s Live from LA series.
Viewers will be able to pick their viewing position, and even virtually stand next to Nelly as he performs as well as hearing behind the scenes commentary, too.
As well as his performance, a 20th anniversary digital deluxe edition of Country Grammar featuring with bonus tracks will also be released on 24 July.
